Youth Day June 3, 2006

The 3rd annual YOUTH DAY June 3, 2006, was a great success. With misting
rain, many families came, traveling from as far away as Lock Haven, PA to enjoy
the special events, displays and activities designed just for Youth Day.
Visitors helped crank the hand crank shears of the Sheep Shearer Matt Bennett, the
Colonial Story Teller and Shepherdess, Joy McCraken shared with the children the
different stages of the shearing, about the fleece and family activities they
would have participated in during the early 19th century. Several
demonstrators helped Children with their hands on activities like spinning, weaving and
blacksmithing and more.
